Approaches
I utilize a range of therapeutic approaches, such as EMDR, narrative therapy, IFS, ACT, and more, to support clients in their healing journey.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)
EMDR is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals heal from trauma, anxiety, and other distressing life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on reprocessing memories that are "stuck," using bilateral stimulation such as eye movements or tapping. This process helps reduce the emotional intensity of painful memories, allowing you to experience relief and gain a new perspective on past events. EMDR has been shown to accelerate healing, often producing lasting results in a shorter time than other therapeutic approaches.

Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy helps people explore the stories they carry about themselves and their experiences, supporting them in gaining new perspectives and creating more empowering narratives about their lives.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems is a therapeutic approach that helps people understand the different parts of their inner world and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves, supporting healing and emotional balance.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) assumes that the quality of life is primarily dependent on mindful action guided by values, regardless of the number of symptoms you have. ACT enhances psychological flexibility through mindfulness and behaviour change techniques, promoting a meaningful life despite challenges.

Existential Wellbeing Therapy
Existential well-being therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on exploring and understanding existential concerns such as meaning, purpose, freedom, isolation, and death. It encourages individuals to examine their beliefs, values, and choices in order to find deeper meaning and develop a greater sense of fulfillment in their lives.

Feminist &
Anti-oppressive
In my therapeutic practice, I embrace a feminist approach that centers on understanding and addressing the social, cultural, and political factors that influence individuals' experiences and mental health. I advocate for gender equality, empowerment, and the rights of marginalized groups, including women and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. I adhere to an anti-oppressive approach that acknowledges and challenges systemic inequalities based on factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, and ability. My practice fosters a safe, inclusive space where clients can explore the impact of oppression on their mental health and well-being.

Land Acknowledgement & Cultural Humility
AE Therapy is located in Burlington, Ontario, on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. I acknowledge the enduring relationship that Indigenous Peoples have with this land and honour the histories, cultures, languages, and ways of knowing that continue to shape these communities today.
I recognize that the ongoing impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma may continue to influence the health and well-being of many Indigenous individuals, families, and communities. I believe that healing is strengthened through connection—to ourselves, to others, to culture, to community, and to the land.
As a non-Indigenous therapist, I am committed to ongoing learning, cultural humility, and listening to Indigenous voices and perspectives. I strive to offer care grounded in respect, curiosity, and humility while continually reflecting on how I can provide a more culturally responsive and inclusive therapeutic space.
